As I cannot find enough time to care for this plugin any more, plugin development won’t be continued. The current version will be available as long as it works for the current WordPress version.

Current Version: 4.1! This version is ONLY for WordPress 2.5.x and 2.6! If you have an older version in use, you need an older version of this plugin as well, see the above repository link for finding these. When upgrading from 4.0 or before, delete the embedded-video folder in your plugins directory before installation and make a clean install (database entries will be updated automatically). You also need to integrate the flash video player again (see instructions below) as the directory names changed.

Description of the plugin
The plugin ‘Embedded Video with Link’ is made for easily embedding videos into a blog post. The videos can be integrated from external portals (like YouTube, Google Video and many many others) or they can be uploaded to the web server. Additionally a corresponding link to the video on the particular video portal page or a download link to the local file can be generated automatically, if demanded. The linktext is also configurable individually. Furthermore a fixed prefix for the linktext can be determined. The videos can be integrated easily by using the built-in WYSIWYG editor. The plugin generates XHTML-valid code an works with WP 2.5 or later.
Installation
Copy the subfolder “embedded-video-with-link” with all included files into the “wp-content/plugins” folder of WordPress. Then go to the menu “Administration” > “Plugins” and activate it. If you want the plugin to play own Flash videos (FLV/SWF files), you need to add JW FLV Media Player manually. Download the zip-file, extract it and simply copy the containing folder ‘mediaplayer’ to the plugin folder ‘embedded-video-with-link’.
Note: If you want to use the FLV Media Player commercially, a license fee has to be paid! See above linked page for license information.
Configuration
Go to the menu ‘Options’ > ‘Embedded Video’. Here you can determine which prefix should be used for the linktext and if it is seperated from the individual linktext by a space character (you will find examples on the options page). You can also adjust the width of the embedded video objects. This way you can fit the plugin perfectly into your layout. You can also choose to use smaller font size for the link and I’d appreciate, if you enable the option to include a link to the plugin page ;)
Use
If using the WYSIWYG editor TinyMCE, videos can be integrated easily by clicking the video symbol in the toolbar. Similar to the insertion of links a popup will open and you can type in the video portal, the ID of the video and the individual linktext:
Local video files can be included by clicking the ‘Local video’ tab to choose files, that were already uploaded, or at the ‘Upload new video’ tab to upload and include a new video file. The required code is generated automatically and is inserted into the post text.
Since version 3.3 there is another tab, “Video URL”. Here you can simply insert a URL to a video file on any server in the world… If not using the WYSIWYG editor, a code snippet with the following format must be inserted into the blog post to include videos:

The IDs for the different portals can be found beneath. The ID of the video must be copied from the original URL. This is slightly different for the various video portals, you can find an instruction beneath as well. The string you choose for the ‘linktext’ part will be included into the linktext below the video. Space characters are permitted.
Example: By typing in ‘[youtube 83FWE2qBudU thing]‘ the YouTube video with ID ’83FWE2qBudU’ is included and below a link to that video with the linktext ‘YouTube direct thing’ (as said before, you can configure the prefix ‘direct’ on the plugin configuration page). You can also skip the ‘thing’ string (eg ‘[youtube 83FWE2qBudU]‘), the result will be generated correctly anyway (without any ‘thing’, of course). If you don’t want any link below the video, just type ‘nolink’ as linktext, eg ‘[youtube 83FWE2qBudU nolink]‘. I’m sorry that there is no link shown for dailymotion videos! If you have any questions, found bugs or require more features, just leave a note!

Dailymotion is a little bit difficult: You have to get the ID not from the video URL but from the ‘Embeddable Player’ code below the video. Copy the text, paste it into a text editor and extract the video ID, that can be find in the code: <div><object width=”425″ height=”255″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/5Jf2iZLWFn5Rq8uxa“></param>
Same for Garage TV and Vimeo: Extract the video ID from the ‘Embed’ code (the really long thing!): <object codebase=”http … <param name=”movie” value=”http://www.garagetv.be/v/S5JqZTozNRH!4B7E3OSUnvfDvcS!x6mGlk5mo 3EFGtvLCD4HCNvcM0C-x-Cwgi5oLC/v.aspx” /> … I know, it’s not very nice, but I can’t see any other way to do this…
